Baby Carriage Cake

Saturday, April 17th, 2010

Ingredients

3 boxes of cake mix prepared according to the package(can be 3 different flavors)

5 cans of frosting

food coloring

12 inch round cake pan

2 6 inch round cake pans

Sheet cake sized board or platter

Directions

1. Start by baking cake mixes prepared according to package directions in 12 inch pan and the 2 6 inch pans. Allow for the cakes to fully cool otherwise the frosting will melt when applied.

2. Place and assemble cakes on a sheet cake size board or platter. Place the 2 smaller cakes at the bottom of the larger one. These wheels can either just touch the bottom or you can cut a small cresent shape out of the top of the wheel so it is flush with the carriage.

3. Cut about 1/4 of the cake from the carriage part to make the opening of the carriage. Cutting in a “L” shape is easiest. You can save this cake and slice a rectangular handle. Place the handle on the board.

4. Frost the cake. Put one coat of white frosting on the entire cake as a base. Save the white frosting for the wheels, carriage top and handle.

5. Mix 3-4 cans of frosting with the food coloring of your choice. Frost the colored sections first and then the white sections.
