Monday, April 19th, 2010

Vases of fresh flowers placed throughout the room are a wonderful decoration to any baby shower!

Size It Up

Sunday, March 28th, 2010

Hang a clothes line with various size outfits or onesies in your party room.  Then, label the outfits with the number 1-5.  Have guests write down what size they believe the outfit appears to be.  Give a prize to the person who gets the most correct.  Don’t forget to throw in a preemie, newborn or 2T outfit to really throw them off!

Party Tip: This is also a great way to decorate your room with cute baby outfits and the Mom-to-be gets to take home these special ideas as well!

Mom-to-Be Tip Decoration

Thursday, March 25th, 2010

String some ribbon across one of the walls in the room where the baby shower is being held to form a clothesline.  As guests arrive, have each guest write a parenting “tip” for the Mom-to-Be on an index card.  Hang each “tip” on clothesline with a small clothespin.

Party Tip: Instead of using index cards, use colored paper and cut it into the shape of onsies to make the tips looks like clothes!

Diaper Cake

Wednesday, March 24th, 2010

A diaper cake makes a wonderful centerpiece and is so practical! Follow these directions to make a wonderful 3-tiered cake that all your baby shower guests will admire!

Supplies

80 Size 1 Diapers (you may need more or less depending on how tightly you roll the diapers)

1 Package of small clear Hair Rubber Bands

1 Package of medium or large sized Rubber Bands

2 8-ounce baby bottles (with the nipples removed)

1 spool of Ribbon to match your theme

Approx 1 foot of tulle

Double Sided Tape

Scotch Tape

Scissors

Directions

  1. Roll each diaper tightly starting from the “open” top end and then wrap one of the small clear rubber bands around it. This will prevent the diaper from unrolling.
  2. Place diapers (about 6-7) around 1 of the baby bottles and then secure in place with 1 medium/large Rubber Band. This will form the 1st of the 3 circles that make up the bottom layer.
  3. Then create another circle of diapers (about 15) around the first and secure in place with a rubber band.
  4. Create another circle of diapers (about 30) and secure in place with a rubber band to complete the bottom layer.
  5. Next add the second layer of the cake by repeating steps 2 and 3 but placing the diapers on top of the bottom layer. The 2nd tier only has 2 circles.
  6. Take the 2nd bottle and stack on top of the 1st. This bottle will start towards the middle of the 2nd tier and end flush with the top tier.
  7. Next start the top tier by adding one circle of diapers on top of the middle tier.
  8. Your diaper cake is now complete except for decorating it!
  9. Take the tulle and cut it into 2 pieces.
  10. Remove the baby bottle from the top tier.
  11. Take one piece of tulle and lay it flat on a table. Place the baby bottle in the center of the tulle and tie the tulle into a knot at the top of the bottle leaving the ends free. Repeat with the second piece of tulle but place the bottle so the tulle doesn’t overlap.
  12. Use scotch tape and medium/large rubber band to hold the tulle in place on the bottle.
  13. Place the bottle back into the top 2 tiers. There should be a bunch of tulle coming out of the center. Cut tulle to desired length.
  14. Next, make sure each of the outer rubber bands is centered and untwisted.
  15. Take your ribbon and cover the rubber bands. Use the double-sided tape to hold the ribbon in place.

Party Tip- Display the cake on a pedestal cake stand for guests to get better views. Also, you can decorate the cake with pacifiers, wipes, small stuffed animals, etc but placing then on top of the layers for a more customized look!

Baby Block Gift Display

Wednesday, February 17th, 2010

Use cube-shaped plastic storage bins to create a very decorative gift display!   Decorate the plastic storage bins by painting or gluing letters of the alphabet on the sides.  Have your baby shower guests place their gifts in the large storage block as they arrive.

The mom-to-be will be grateful to receive the storage boxes to transport her baby gifts home!

Baby Block Flower Centerpiece

Wednesday, February 17th, 2010

Purchase inexpensive wooden boxes that have once side open at a craft store.  Paint each side a different color and paint a letter on each side to resemble an alphabet block.  Then simply place a vase of flowers or a flowering plant inside!

You can also purchase wooden boxes without an opening to create an enlarged version of alphabet blocks.  Then place them around the room and stack a couple on top of each other.

Alphabet Baby Block Decoration

Tuesday, February 16th, 2010

Purchase a set of alphabet baby blocks to decorate the party table. Arrange the blocks to spell out the name of the baby-to-be or “Welcome Baby.” You could also use the blocks to spell words that are associated with babies like cuddle, joy, love and cute. You may want to use the blocks to spell baby items like toy, bib, and blanket. Place the baby block words around the room to create a fun atmosphere. After the shower, give the alphabet blocks to the mom-to-be for lots of fun in the coming years.

Make the Mother-To-Be’s Chair Special

Friday, February 12th, 2010

Make the mother-to-be feel extra special by decorating her chair by adding balloons and bows.  You decorate the chair with bows made from crepe paper, ribbon or tulle and then add some balloons.  A mylar balloon tied to the top of the chair is a great touch!  Check out our selection of mylar balloons in the theme of your choosing.

Tip: If the mother-to-be is receiving a rocking chair as a shower gift you can assemble it before the shower and make that her chair!
